Getting started
Do both people need an account?
Yes, both people need a free Repaired account. Repaired runs in your browser at repairedapp.com, with no download (Android and iOS apps are in development). One person starts a repair and invites the other by email. If they don't have an account yet, the invite link sets one up.
How do I invite my partner?
From Home, choose "Start a repair." After five quick safety questions, you say what it is about and when it happened, then choose "With them." Pick someone you're connected with, or enter their email and who they are to you. You can add a line that goes at the top of their invite.
The invite email never arrived. What should I try?
Ask them to check their spam or junk folder. The invite comes from noreply@repairedapp.com. If the address was wrong, use "Wrong address? Send it somewhere else" on your waiting screen. An invite link works for 72 hours.
Can I use Repaired with a friend, family member, or coworker?
Yes. The repair process works for any two people, not just romantic partners. You can specify the relationship type when you start.
Is Repaired free?
Yes. Repairs, check-ins, Know Yourself and Grow are free, with no paywall. Repaired Plus is an optional subscription that adds AI features on top.
The repair process
What are the steps?
First you each say your whole side, in private and without being interrupted. Then you read theirs, say back what you heard, and name your part if it is true for you. Then you each write what you want the other to hear; it stays sealed until you have both sent, so you read each other's at the same time. Last, you agree on what each of you will do differently, what you ask of each other, how often to check in, and, if you like, a pause phrase.
Why do I have to wait for the other person?
So each of you is heard in your own words first. If one person reads before writing, they tend to answer the other's framing instead of saying what they lived. One exception: if the other person has not started, the person who began can send their side early. Then it is read first, and the reader still gets their full, uninterrupted say.
What is a repair message?
In the last step you each write what you want the other to hear: an acknowledgment, an apology, or what you would like to change. It goes through the tone check, then stays sealed until you have both sent.
What is the tone check?
Before anything is shared, the tone check reads it and points out wording that tends to escalate rather than repair, such as contempt or blame. Most flags are suggestions: you can keep your words or change them. A few kinds of wording can't be shared as written; you rework them or keep that part private. The tone check never reads or blocks anything you keep just for yourself.
What do we agree on at the end?
Each of you lists what you will do differently and what you are asking of the other. They can accept, offer something else, or decline; anything still open goes on your check-in list, not against anyone. You choose how often to check in, and you can add a pause phrase: a word either of you can say to stop a spiral.
What happens after the agreement?
Check-ins come on the schedule you chose: weekly, every two weeks, or monthly. At each one you each say how things are holding up.
How long does the full process take?
Each step takes a few minutes of writing, and you don't need to be online at the same time. You can stop between steps and pick up where you left off. How long a whole repair takes depends on both of you.
Is Repaired therapy?
No. Repaired is a structured conflict repair protocol. No professional is involved. It is built on evidence-based communication and relationship research, but this specific implementation has not been independently studied. If you're experiencing a crisis, domestic violence, or serious mental health concerns, please seek professional care.
Know Yourself, Grow, and Connections
What is Know Yourself?
Know Yourself is a set of seven self-knowledge exercises: conflict style, relationship needs, attachment style, trigger inventory, communication patterns, repair readiness, and values hierarchy. Each exercise takes 5 to 10 minutes and builds a private self-profile that helps you understand your own patterns in relationships.
What is Grow?
Grow is a personal question engine that surfaces reflection questions based on your self-profile. Questions are drawn from your Know Yourself results and general relationship growth areas. You can answer at your own pace. There's no fixed order or time pressure.
What are Connections?
Connections is a trusted people list: a private record of the people you repair with or share your profile with. On a connection's page you can view your repair history together, your relationship health over time, and personal notes you've written about that relationship.
Is any of this shared with my partner?
Nothing from Know Yourself, Grow, or Connections is shared without your explicit action. Your self-profile, answers, and notes are private by default.
Privacy and your data
Can Repaired read my reflections?
No. Your repair content is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS). Access by Repaired staff is restricted to essential operations (security incident response, legal compliance) and requires internal authorization. It is not used to train AI models. Otherwise only you and the other person see it, at the moments the process allows. If you are a Plus member and use an AI feature, the text for that request is processed by Amazon Bedrock, inside AWS, to produce your result. It is not shared with the company that makes the model.
Can the other person see my side before they write theirs?
Not usually: neither of you sees the other's side until you have both finished yours. The one exception is when the person who started sends their side early because the other had not begun. Your final messages are always sealed until you have both sent, and anything you mark "just for you" is never shared.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored on AWS (Amazon Web Services) servers in the United States.
How do I delete my account and data?
Go to your profile and choose "Delete account permanently" on the web, or "Delete account" in the app. You download a copy of your data first, then confirm. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone: your sign-in and personal data are removed, Repaired Plus is cancelled, and your side of any shared repairs is shown as "Deleted user." Section 4 of the Privacy Policy has the full detail.
Account and access
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the sign-in screen, choose "Forgot password?" and enter your email. We email you a reset code; enter it with your new password. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive. You can also choose "Email me a sign-in link" and skip the password.
Can I use Repaired on iOS or Android?
Repaired is currently available at repairedapp.com. It works on any device in your browser. Native Android and iOS apps are in development.
Troubleshooting
The website is not loading correctly.
Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) or open in an incognito/private window. Your account data is not affected.
My screen is stuck on waiting.
A waiting screen means the next step needs the other person, and it shows where they are: not opened yet, getting ready, or writing their side. If you both believe you are done but it doesn't move on, refresh the page. It re-syncs from the server.
Something went wrong and my repair data seems wrong.
Email hello@repairedapp.com with your account email address and a description of what happened. Include approximately when it occurred. We'll look into it.
